The Florida Parishes: 1783

Peace of Paris 1783

In 1783, a series of treaties were signed that ended the American Revolutionary War, and the wars between the European powers. Spain received both West and East Florida. In 1785 Spain moved the boundary of the two Floridas from the Apalachicola River eastward to the Suwannee River.

Spain now controlled the entire Gulf Coast.
