Peter L. Jore was appointed as the first Librarian of the State Library. He was also the Librarian for the Commercial Law Library. Before this, he was employed by a private school. Afterwards, he ran unsuccessfully for mayor, and worked for a truss seller. As a librarian, he seems to have been involved in the business part of the job, but may have neglected the actual care and maintenance of the collection.
