A Brief History of the Orleans Civil District Court: 1926

ACT No. 60.     AN ACT
To increase the salaries of the Judges of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans for administering the Judicial Expense Fund and providing for the payment thereof out of the said Judicial Expense Fund.

ACT No. 137.      AN ACT
Authorizing the Courthouse Commission to bring suit by summary process in the Civil District Court against the legal Custodian or owner of any documents, records or papers that are contained in the New Courthouse in the City of New Orleans for the destruction thereof and providing that a judgment in such suit shall witness full immunity for responsibility on the part of the Courthouse Commission and said legal Custodian or owner thereof. Whereas, by Act No. 244 of 1910, the care, custody and control of the New Courthouse in the City of New Orleans is given to the Courthouse Commission and Whereas, the said building is now tenanted by State and City offices and by various courts, and there has accumulated. in said building a vast amount of documents, records and papers that are of no value and same constitute a nuisance in that they create unnecessary fire hazard and litter said building with trash and dirt and the space occupied by said documents, records and papers is needed for other purposes.
