A Brief History of the Orleans Civil District Court: 1960

ACT No. 113       AN ACT
To amend Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 relative to the judicial depository of the Civil District Courtfor the Parish of Orleans by adding a new section thereto, to be known as Section 1310, to authorize the Clerk of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans to deposit into the treasury of the City of New Orleans all unclaimed funds which have been deposited in the registry of the Court for a period of more than seven (7) years, and whose owners are unknown, or whose owners' whereabouts are unknown, and have not been heard from for a period of seven years or more; to provide a procedure for the withdrawal of said funds; to relieve the Clerk of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans paying said funds into the treasury of the City of New Orleans from all further liability therefor; to permit the City of New Orleans to use and/or invest said funds and retain the ownership of the interest derived there from.

ACT No. 238    AN ACT
To authorize the sale of certain real property located in the square bounded by Royal, St. Louis, Chartres and Conti Streets in the City of New Orleans, State of Louisiana, by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission, or its successor in office, to the City of New Orleans, and other person; and prescribing the terms and conditions of said conveyances.

ACT No. 272     AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 5 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 relative to the provisions of pensions for the spouses of deceased judges and retired judges of courts of record of the State of Louisiana, and the payment thereof.

ACT No. 308     AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Subsection A of Section 691 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, relative to salaries payable by the State to district judges and adding thereto provisions for the payment of salaries to certain civil district judges, certain criminal district court judges and certain juvenile judges and family court judges, and also to amend and re-enact Paragraph (4) of Subsection A of Section 692 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, relative to the additional salaries paid to district judges of the Nineteenth Judicial District.

ACT No. 309    AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 698 of Chapter 4 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised statures* of 1950 relative to reimbursement of office expenses incurred by district judges.

ACT No. 414    AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 961 of Chapter 4 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, relative to court reporters.

ACT No. 512    AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Sub-Sections A, D and G of Section 936; and by adding thereto a new Sub-Section H to be designated as R.S. 13:936 (H); and Section 938 of Title 13 of the Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended, relative to the Clerks of Court Retirement and Relief Fund; to provide changes of eligibility for disability benefits determined by Board of Trustees; to provide a provision of one continuous year of service; to provide for members to use best four years of salary in averaging their retirement; to provide an optional method of settlement at time of retirement; and to provide for re-payment of contributions which have been withdrawn after the member has returned to the system and has remained a member for four years.

ACT No. 588    AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Sections 1302 and 1993 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, relative to the salaries of the criers of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans and the salaries of the criers of the First City Court for the City of New Orleans; and repealing all laws, or parts of laws, in conflict herewith.
