In 1951, the Legislature restored the so-called "diploma privilege." An applicant "who shall have served in the armed forces of the United States during WWII, prior to August 15, 1945, and who prior to October 1, 1950, has actually matriculated in an approved Louisiana Law School belonging to the Association of American Law Schools or in the Southern University Law School" did not need to take the examinations required by the Committee on Bar Admissions.
