A Brief History of the Orleans Civil District Court: 1956

ACT No. 34     AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 5 of Title 13 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 relative to the provisions of pensions for the spouses of deceased judges and retired judges of courts of record of the State of Louisiana, and the payment thereof.

ACT No. 212     AN ACT
Providing for the creation and election of an additional judge of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans to be known as the judge of Division "H" thereof; providing for the duties, powers, jurisdiction, qualifications, term of office and salary of such additional judge; authorizing the Governor to appoint such additional judge to serve through December 31, 1960 or until his successor is elected and qualified; providing for the appointment of a minute clerk, crier and stenographer by such judge and prescribing their duties and compensation; providing a saving clause and repealing all laws or parts of laws in conflict or inconsistent herewith.

ACT No. 290     AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 31 of Title 42 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 to add a new paragraph to be designated as paragraph (5), to exempt law clerks and stenographers working with a court of record from the provisions against dual office holding.

ACT No. 291     AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 137 of Title 14 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 by adding thereto a new paragraph to be designated as paragraph (5), to exempt law clerks and stenographers working with a court of record from the provisions against dual office holding.

ACT No. 329     AN ACT
To amend an re-enact Section 1852, of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, relative to selection of president and vice president and compensation of president of the Court House Commission for the City of New Orleans.

ACT No. 635      AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Section 1142 of Title 13 of the Revised Statutes of 1950 relating to the salary for administering the Judicial Expense fund. 

ACT No. 588      A JOINT RESOLUTION
Proposing an amendment to Section 8 of Article VII of the Constitution of Louisiana by adding a Paragraph thereto, to provide for assignment of duty of any retired judge of a court of record and further providing for jurisdiction, powers, duties and compensation.

ACT No. 16      AN ACT
To amend and re-enact Paragraph a of Item 3 of Schedule 2 of Section 2 of Act No. 63 of 1956 commonly known as the General Appropriation Act and to repeal all lawsor parts of laws inconsistent or in conflict herewith.
