The gradual move towards allowing women to serve on a jury.

Jury Service

Unfortunately, jury service is seen today as a burden which is to be avoided. People do not view it as important. In the past, however, lawmakers sought to limit the kinds of people who were eligible to serve on juries, because they believed juries were a way to control society. In Louisiana, women did not have meaningful representation on juries before 1975.
