This guide provides some general information about Small Claims Court in Louisiana.

Check with the Louisiana District Court for the district and parish where you plan to file your court papers to find out where the small claims court is. The small claims court may have its own forms for you to fill out. Depending on the circumstances of your situation, small claims court may be in a Justice of the Peace Court, a City Court, or another court.

If your case is not in Justice of the Peace Court, you may want to contact the clerk of court for the court you need to see if they have sample forms or fill-in-the blank forms you can use. 

Go here for information and resources on the The Louisiana Supreme Court website for people handling their own legal problem without a lawyer. People who go to court without a lawyer are sometimes called "self-represented" people or people who are "pro se."
