Your local library can help you with many of your legal information needs. Though librarians can't provide legal advice, they can help you find the legal information you need to make your own decisions about your legal situation. Even if they don't have the book you are looking for, ask your librarian to help you find it at another library. All of the books listed in these bibliographies can be found at the Law Library of Louisiana and many at the LSU Law Library as well as local universities. Very often libraries will lend to each other, so you don't have to travel to New Orleans or Baton Rouge to get a book at one of the law libraries there if you live in another part of the state.
Some of the books listed are written specifically for self-represented litigants, such as books by Nolo. Some are written as easy-to-understand breakdowns of relevant law, such as the Nutshell series. The West books tend to be written more for lawyers and judges, but they are helpful for anyone, including SRLs, who wants more detailed explanations of the law, especially the law in Louisiana specifically. Your librarian can help you figure out which book is best for you.
