A Brief History of the Municipal Court of New Orleans: 1949

1949

Mayor Chep Morrison ordered the evacuation of the old courts building on Tulane. The municipal courts moved into the Municipal Auditorium Annex, pending the construction of the new three story combined municipal court and police building on North Rampart and St. Louis.  The old landmark building at Tulane and South Saratoga*, built from 1892-94, was scheduled to be razed.

*South Saratoga is now known as Loyola Ave.
