The constitutions do not grant special rights to individuals to be armed. When Louisiana's 19th century constitutions actually do mention arms, it is within the context of the state militia. Two Louisiana constitutions borrow language from the U.S. 2nd Amendment, but then include the phrase "This shall not prevent the passage of laws to punish those who carry weapons concealed."
The 1845 constitution punished any participation in duelling with a ban on holding any office of trust or profit, and of enjoying the right of suffrage.
