Louisiana Court of Appeal, Second Circuit

The Second Circuit Court of Appeal was created by Act No. 561 of 1958, which amended Article 7, Section 21 of the Louisiana Constitution of 1921. The court began operations in Shreveport on July 1, 1960, with four judges. Act No. 114 of 1975 increased the number of judges to five. Act No. 661 of 1980 increased the number of judges to six.  Act No. 3 of 1981 raised it to seven. Act No. 801 of 1987 raised it to eight. Act No. 8 of 1990 increased the number of judges to nine.

The Hon. Henry N. Brown, Jr., first elected to court in 1991, is chief judge.
