A Brief History of the Louisiana Courts of Appeal: 1882

In Act No.125, a joint resolution, the Legislature proposed major changes to the 1879 Constitution. Article 95's jurisdictional dollar amount would be changed:

Article 95. The Courts of Appeal, except in cases hereinafter provided shall have appellate jurisdiction only, which jurisdiction shall extend to all cases, civil or probate, when the matter in dispute or the fund to be distributed shall exceed one hundred (from two hundred) dollars, exclusive of interest, and shall not exceed two thousand (from one thousand) dollars, exclusive of interest.

 

The amendment was adopted on April 22, 1884
