In Louisiana, school-age children may not skip school. Students are required to attend school regularly and must attend at least 167 days to earn credit and be eligible for promotion to the next grade. 

Since Covid, truancy has become a major problem in Louisiana. All parishes, both rural and urban, have high truancy rates.
