The State of Louisiana purchased the land and buildings bounded by Canal, Philippe (now Roosevelt way), Common, and Baronne, then occupied by Charity Hospital, to be used as the legislature's state house. The hospital was to be turned over to the legislature on or before October 1, 1833.

 

AN ACT to authorise the Governor to purchase the property therein mentioned and for other purposes.
