AN ACT To amend and re-enact Paragraph (1) of Section 31 of Title 18 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to permit physically handicapped persons to vote in a precinct within the ward other than that in which registered if the polling place in inaccessible due to the physical handicap and to provide with respect to the procedure therefor.
Section 8. Section 403.1 of Title 32 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
§403.1. Application of persons sixty years of age or above
Every person, sixty years of age or above, applying for a license under the provisions of this Chapter for the first time, shall attach to his application a detailed report from a physician or optometrist indicating his visual ability and a detailed medical report from a physician indicating his physical condition and specifying any defects in connection there- with which might impair the applicant's ability to exercise ordinary and reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to persons applying for a renewal license.
Section 9. Section 403.2 of Title 32 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
§403.2. Application of persons with physical disability Every physically handicapped person applying for a license under the provisions of this Chapter for the first time shall attach to his application a detailed medical report, or a report from an optometrist if it is a visual defect, from a physician indicating the severity of his disability and the limitations imposed thereby which might impair the applicant's ability to exercise ordinary and reasonable control in the operation of a motor vehicle. The department may waive the furnishing of said report by any person applying for a renewal license under the provisions of this Chapter.
A JOINT RESOLUTION Proposing an amendment to Section 1 of Article VIII of the Constitution of Louisiana by amending Paragraph (a) thereof, to permit physically handicapped voters to vote in a precinct within the ward other than the one where registered if the polling place is inaccessible due to the handicap and to provide with respect to the procedure therefor.
