A Brief History of the Louisiana Juvenile Courts: 1918

1918

Act 201 of 1918 provided for a new amendment to Art. 118 of the 1913 Constitution to be submitted to the electors. It was approved by the electors in November 1918.

 

"Section 5. That the provisions herein relating to the jurisdiction and powers of juvenile courts shall not be exclusive, and the General Assembly may pass laws enlarging or regulating the jurisdiction and powers of such courts and providing for the trial of juveniles and adults by such courts, and regulating the procedure in such trials."
