ACT No. 140.  AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 24 of Act 6 of the Extra Session of 1899, as amended by Act 111 of 1902, and as amended by Act 230 of 1936, entitled, "An Act to make effective the vote and levy of the special tax by the property taxpayers of the City of New Orleans for water, sewerage, and drainage purposes; by authorizing the capitalization of said tax by the issuance of fifty year bonds of the City of New Orleans under certain conditions and with certain privileges and restrictions, pro- viding for the payment of the principal and interest thereof, for the disposition of the said bonds and the proceeds thereof, and defining the powers and duties of the Board of Liquidation with reference thereto; by constituting and establishing a Sewerage and Water Board . . .

ACT No. 167.  AN ACT Creating a Board of Trustees of the Police Pension Fund for the City of New Orleans; providing for a pension fund and for the pensioning of the officers, members, employees and matrons of the Police Department in the City of New Orleans, their widows, children and widowed mothers; providing for retirement from the service and for payment of benefits; and providing for the raising and appropriation of the funds for said Pension Fund and the sources thereof;, and repealing all laws or parts of laws in conflict therewith, and particularly para- graph 10 of Section 16 of .Act 159 of 1912. as amended by Act 187 of 1924, and as amended by Act 240 of 1932, and as amended by Section 2 of Act 104 of 1934 and Section 1 of Act 30 of the Third Extraordinary Session of 1934.

AN ACT  To create and establish a Classified Civil Service, based upon the merit system of personnel administration, to administer, control and regulate employment in the service of all cities in the State of Louisiana hav ing a population exceeding One hundred Thousand (100,000) according to the last preceding census of. . .

ACT No. 235. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 74 of Act 170 of 1898 as amended by Section 1 of Act 110 of 1938.

ACT No. 271. AN ACT Conferring the right of an unmarried mother whether over or under the age of twenty-one years, who has given birth to an illegitimate child or children legally to surrender the care, custody and control of said legitimate child or children to institutions or social agencies approved by the State Department of Public Welfare; prescribing the manner of legally surrendering the care, custody and control of said illegitimate child or children, and conferring the right on said institutions and social agencies, approved by the State Department of Public Welfare to which the care, custody and control of said illegitimate child or children has been surrendered, to place said child or children for adoption and to act in said adoption proceedings as the legal custodian of said child or children; requiring judicial authority for such surrender of any child by an unmarried mother under the age of twenty-one years and repealing all laws in conflict herewith.

ACT No. 327. AN ACT To provide for the dispensing with formal inventory and appraisement in connection with appointment of tutors for minors and of curators for interdicts when the estates of such wards amount to no more than Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars; and to repeal Act 220 of 1934 and all laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith.

Note-The foregoing Act -having been submitted to his Excellency, Honorable Sam H. Jones, Governor of the State of Louisiana, for his approval or disapproval, and the same not having been acted upon within the time limit prescribed by the Constitution of this State, the same has become a law by limitation.

ACT No. 336. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Article 741 of the Civil Code so as to protect the rights of all owners of mineral interests in lands sought to be partitioned by licitation; to define the term "mineral interests"; and to provide who are the necessary parties to such proceedings, and the manner and procedure for appraisement of the property to be sold, and distribution of its proceeds equitably among all interested parties.

Note-The foregoing Act having been submitted to his Excellency, Honorable Sam H. Jones, Governor of the State of Louisiana, for his approval or disapproval, and the same not having been acted upon within the time limit prescribed by the Constitution of this State, the same has become a law by limitation.

ACT No. 369. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Article 1029 of the Revised Code of Practice of 1870 of Louisiana as amended by Act 208 of 1932.

ACT No. 379.A JOINT RESOLUTION Proposing an amendment to Section 14 of Article III of the Constitution of Louisiana fixing the compensation of Members of the Legislature, and providing for the payment thereof; prohibiting Legislators and their relatives, as defined herein, from accepting, holding or exercising simultaneously with such tenure of office in the Legislature any other office, position or employment for profit with the State of Louisiana or any department thereof, except as herein provided; and prohibiting employment of a Member of the Legislature or relative of a Member, as defined herein; providing that upon the violation of the provisions of this Section, such Legislator shall ipso facto vacate his office; making it unlawful to violate the provisions hereof and providing the penalties there- for; setting forth the exceptions to these provisions; and providing that this amendment shall be self-operative.
