AN ACT To create the office of Clerk of the City Court of Lafayette, Louisiana; to provide the powers and duties of said Clerk; to provide the manner of appointment, fixing the the compensation of said office; providing the means of payment, and repealing all laws, or parts of laws, contrary to or in conflict herewith.

ACT No. 178.  AN ACT To amend and re-enact Sections 2 (amended by Act 189 of 1932) 4 and 5 of Act 198 of 1918 (amended by Act 81 of 1922 and Act 232 of 1924), entitled: "An Act to grant the right to mortgage movable property; to provide the method of executing, recording, foreclosure and enforcement of such right of mortgage; to provide for the regulation and effect of such right of mortgage; to provide penalties for the fraudulent disposition or concealment of property mortgaged under this Act; to provide penalties for the fraudulent release of a mortgage arising under this Act; to provide penalties for the granting of a mortgage on property not belonging to the mortgagor; to provide penalties for concealing the existence of liens, privileges or encumbrances already existing on the property mortgaged under this Act; to provide for the obtaining of an affidavit by a resident of any parish from a non-resident of such parish in connection with the purchase of the movable property which may be mortgaged under this Act; to provide penalties for the violation by the mortgagor and other persons of the provisions of such mortgages and of this Act and penalties for frauds in connection therewith, to provide for the repeal of laws in conflict here- with."

ACT NO. 224. House Bill No. 351. By Mr. Curry. AN ACT To confirm, validate and declare legal and binding as against the State of Louisiana and all other persons and bodies or corporations created by it, a certain sale of that portion of Section sixteen (16), Township fourteen (14), North, Range twelve (12) East, in the District of lands North of Red River, lying South of Mill Bayou, and now in the Parish of Tensas, Louisiana, made by the Treasurer of the Parish of Madison on the 29th day of November, 1856, in which Parish the said sixteenth section then lay, after he had complied with all of the provisions of the Federal and State laws then existing governing such sales.

Act 229 AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 8 of Act 6 of the Extra Session of 1899, as amended by Act 111 of 1902, and as amended by Act 36 of the Second Extraordinary Session of 1934; and to amend and re-enact Section 9 of Act 6 of the Extra Session of 1899, entitled: "An Act to make effective the vote and levy of the special tax by the property taxpayers of the City of New Orleans for water, sewerage and drainage purposes; by authorizing the capitalization of said tax by the issuance of fifty- year bonds of the City of New Orleans under certain conditions and with certain privileges and restrictions, providing for the payment of the principal and interest thereof, for the disposition of the said bonds and the proceeds thereof, and defining the powers and duties of the Board of Liquidation with reference thereto; by constituting and establishing a Sewerage and Water Board for the City of New Orleans and defining its powers, duties, rights and obligations with reference to the public, the City Council, the Board of Liquidation, and the Drainage Commission, and vice versa; by authorizing the City of New Orleans, through said board, to acquire all necessary property, rights and franchises by purchase, construction or expropriation, either within or without the city, necessary and proper for her public system of sewerage and water and in such case to assume as part of the purchase price existing mortgages on said property, and to provide for the payment of the principal and interest of such assumed debts; and to provide for the violation of said Act," and repealing all laws or parts of laws in conflict herewith. Whereas, notice of the intention to apply for the passage of this Act has been published without cost to the State, as required by Section 6 of Article IV of the Constitution of 1921, and the evidence of such notice having been exhibited to the Legislature, in accordance with said Section 6 of Article IV of the Constitution;

ACT. No. 233. AN ACT Providing for the method and procedure of adopting children under seventeen years of age; for the annulment of such act of adoption; for changing the name of persons adopted; for punishment for contempt, of persons who violate certain provisions of this Act; for the recording of said.act of adoption; for appeals from judgments rendered in accordance with this Act; for the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Courts under this Act; for the repeal of all laws in conflict herewith, or upon the same subject matter, as same may relate to juveniles as defined by law.

ACT No. 336. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Act 183 of 1924, as amended by Act 15 of the Second Extraordinary Session of 1935, entitled; "An Act to fix compensation of the Clerks of District Court and Ex-Officio Recorders throughout the State, (the Parish of Orleans, Tensas, Madison, East Carroll, Red River, and Plaquemines, excepted) ; to provide for Deputies and Clerical and other expenses; to provide penalties and to repeal all laws contrary to or in conflict with this Act.

ACT No. 337. AN ACT Regulating practice in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans; providing the manner of selecting and appointing appraisers when the taking of an inventory is authorized or ordered by said Court: prescribing their qualifications and duties; providing the manner of fixing their fees and for taxing same as costs; prescribing the duty of the judges of said court relative to inventories wherein the appraisers have not been selected and appointed in accordance with this Act, and the effect of such inventories; prescribing the effect of an order homologating inventories; providing that the provisions of this Act shall not apply to any inventory authorized or ordered prior to the effective date hereof ; and repealing all laws or parts of laws in conflict herewith, provided that this Act shall not affect the provisions of Act 176 of 1914.
