No. 101.] AN ACT Ratifying and confirming the Charter of the New Orleans Waterworks Company, and to empower said company to build waterworks, to lay down pipes, erect fire plugs, etc., and to assess and collect water rates or rents on property on the line of its pipes when laid.

Received in the office of Secretary of State, January 10, 1873. The foregoing act having been presented to the Governor of the State of Louisiana for his approval, and not having been returned by him to the House of the General Assembly, in which it originated, within the time prescribed by the constitution of the State of Louisiana, has become a law without his approval.

No. 43.] AN ACT. To amend and re-enact section two of an act entitled An Act relative to the Louisiana Levee Company, a corporation organized under the general laws of this State, constituting it a body politic and corporate, with certain powers, privileges and franchises, and contracting with said corporation for the construction, maintenance and repairs of certain levees, and providing for compensation therefor, approved February 20, 1871; also, to amend and re-enact section one of an act entitled “An Act ratifying and confirming a contract between the Louisiana Levee Company and the Governor of the State of Louisiana," approved February 28, 1871; providing for the acceptance of said amendments by the Louisiana Levee Company, and authorizing and requiring a yearly estimate of levees to be built; reducing the compensation therefor from sixty to fifty cents per cubic yard, and providing for commuting timber work into earth work.

No. 94.] AN ACT Relative to Juries in and for the State of Louisiana; to determine the qualification of jurors; to prescribe the manner and fix the time of drawing juries, except in the parish of Orleans; to designate the persons to draw the same; to exempt certain persons from serving on juries; to give the district judges certain discretionary powers; to provide for and prescribe the manner of summoning talesmen jurors; to require clerks of the district courts to give certificates to jurors in certain cases, and to perform certain other duties, and to proviļe for summoning jurors and to compel their attendance.
