ACT No. 76. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 6 of Act 140 of 1916 as amended by Act 266 of 1926 and Act 7 of 1930, entitled: "An Act to carry out Articles 225 and 226 of tile Constitution; to create a Board of State Affairs; to prescribe its powers, duties and compensation; to provide penalties; to abolish the State Board of Appraisers and the State Board of Equalization; to provide an appropriation."

ACT No. 153. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 4 of Act 138 of 1898, entitled: "An Act abolishing the offices of justices of the peace and constables in Wards 3 and 10 of Ouachita Parish, and creating in their stead the "City Court of the City of Monroe", consisting of a judge and marshal, and defining their qualifications, powers, jurisdiction and term of office; providing for their salaries and fees and place of office, and method of executing process", as amended by Act 31 of 1924 and Act 221 of 1942; and repealing all laws and parts of laws inconsistent or in conflict herewith; and repealing Section 10 of Act 138 of 1898 and Section 3 of Act 20 of 1924:

ACT No. 225. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 3 of Act 183 of 1924, as amended by Act 15 of the Second Extraordinary Session of 1935, Act 336 of 1936, Act 227 of 1938 and Act 288 of 1942 entitled "An Act to fix the compensation of the Clerks of the District Courts and Ex-Officio Recorders throughout the State, the Parishes of Orleans, Red River, Plaquemines, Caddo, East Feliciana and East Baton Rouge excepted; two provide for deputies, clerical and other assistants and defraying expenses; to provide for the disposition of the surplus receipts if any, of the Clerks of District Courts' office; to provide penalties for the violation of this Act; and to repeal all laws contrary to, or in conflict with, this Act.

ACT No. 254. AN ACT Creating a Navigation and River Improvement District which shall be known and styled "Jennings Navigation District of Louisiana," for the purpose of obtaining, improving and maintaining navigation on the Mermentau River and other rivers and streams of this state by the digging of a bargeline canal from the Mermentau River to the corporate limits of the City of Jennings; fixing the limits of said district; defining its purposes; creating same a corporation and body politic; establishing its domicile; authorizing the district to acquire and dispose of property of every description in order to carry out the purposes for which it is created; to own, construct, maintain and to lease and operate dredge boats, snag boats, pile drivers, docks, wharves, sheds, elevators, warehouses, barges and other property, equipment and machinery; subject to the jurisdiction and authority of Louisiana Public Service Commission,

ACT No. 255. AN ACT To provide for the licensing of persons operating motor vehicles upon highways, roads or streets and to make uniform the law relating thereto; requiring licenses for all operators not exempt; providing for application and fees thereof; for examinations and exemptions from examinations; licensing of non-residents; verification of applications; notification of change of address; applications and licensing of minors; place of examinations; cancellation and return of license; appeal from cancellation; providing for files to be kept on all applicants; contents and terms of licenses; providing for lost or destroyed licenses, duplicates thereof and fees there- for; providing for causes for revocation, suspension and cancellation of licenses, procedure therefor and admissibility of evidence in certain courts; providing for parent's responsibility of child or ward operating without license; responsibility of owners of for rent or for hire vehicles; clerks of court to furnish records of convictions; that the courts may revoke license; refusal to issue license on just cause and appeal therefrom; exemptions from operation of the Act; giving or furnishing of false or erroneous or incorrect information; providing for beginner drivers; providing for issuance of local licenses by parishes, cities or municipalities; providing for expenditure and payment of the fees collected here- under and retention of surplus by Department of Public Safety; prescribing penalties for the violation hereof; and the repeal of all laws in conflict herewith.

ACT No. 265. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Sections L and 5 of Act No. 42 of the General Assembly of the State of Louisiana, for the year 1890, as amended and re-enacted by Act 138 of 1896, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 187 of 1902, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 239 of 1916, and as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 157 of 1920, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 47 of 1924, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 40 of 1926, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 118 of 1928, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 13 of the Extra Session of 1928, as amended and re-enacted by Act 230 of 1942, entitled; "An Act relative to the Notaries Public of the Parish of Orleans, and regulating their appointment, bond, qualifications, duties and obligations, providing for the testing of said bonds and prescribing certain penalties ;" and to repeal all laws in conflict here- with.

ACT No. 301. AN ACT An Act to amend and re-enact Section 4 (as amended by Act 51 of 1921 (E. S.), Act 131 of 1926 and Act 338 of 1936), Section 9 (as amended by Act 338 of 1936), Section 12 (as amended by Act 115 of 1921 (E. S.), Act 214 of 1924 and Act 338 of 1936), Section 13, Section 16 (as amended by Act No. 30 of 1934 (3rd E. S.), Section 17 (as amended by Act 187 of 1924, Act 20 of 1935 (1st E. S.), and Act 338 of 1936), Section 48 (as amended by Act 338 of 1936), Section 52, and Section 60, and to repeal Section 16.1 (added by Act No. 20 of 1935 (1st E. S.), and amended by Act No. 338 of 1936), Section 22 and Section 40 of Act No. 159 of 1912, en- titled "An Act to incorporate the City of New Orleans; to provide a Commission form of Government for the administration of the affairs of said City; to provide for an initiative, referendum and recall, and the manner and mode of exercising and submitting same, and pro- viding penalties for the violation of any of the pro- visions of this Act in reference to same; to submit this Act to the qualified voters of the City of New Orleans for their approval or disapproval; to provide that if disapproved this Act shall be non-operative; to call a special election for the purpose of taking the sense of said voters; to provide a special primary to nominate party candidates for municipal officers in the City of New Orleans to be elected in November, 1912; and for that purpose only to subordinate the general primary laws of the State to the special provisions of this Act, and to repeal all laws or parts of laws in conflict herewith."

ACT No. 339. AN ACT To amend and re-enact Sections 2 and 6 of Act 203 of 1898, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 334 of 1936, as amended and re-enacted by Act No. 228 of 1938, entitled: "An Act to provide a general fee bill and bill of costs regulating and fixing the fees and compensations allowed Sheriffs, Clerks and Recorders, Justices of the Peace, Constables and Coroners in all civil matters, and to provide for the collection of the same throughout the State of Louisiana, the Parish of Orleans excepted, and fixing the fees and compensation of Sheriffs throughout the State, the Parish of Orleans excepted, in criminal matters," and to repeal all laws or parts of laws inconsistent or in conflict with this Act.

AN ACT To amend and re-enact Section 7 of Act 42 of 1890, entitled: 'An Act relative to notaries public for the parish of Orleans, and regulating their appointment, bond, qualifications, duties and obligations, providing for the testing of said bonds, and prescribing certain penalties'. "and to repeal all laws inconsistent or in conflict therewith."
