ACT NO. 109. AN ACT To carry into effect Article 235 and 236 of the Constitution, and to levy taxes solely for the support of the public schools on all inheritances, legacies and other donations mortis causa, to provide exemptions therefrom, to prescribe the manner of collecting the same, to fix the fees of attorneys and commissions of tax-collectors, and to repeal all conflicting laws.

ACT NO. 140. By Mr. Winter. House Bill No. 192 AN ACT To amend and re-enact Sections 1, 8, 19, 20, 22, 26. and 30 of Defining banking corporations. Certificate of authority to be procured by new banks. Act No. 179 of the Acts of the General Assembly for the year 1902, entitled an Act to define banking associations, and saving banks and to regulate their methods of carrying on the business of banking and to prescribe certain rules and regulations in reference thereto. To define the duties of the Secretary of State, the Attorney General and the district attorneys throughout the State, and to more clearly define the duties of the State Examiner of State Banks in relation thereto; and to prescribe penalties and to provide for the punishment of violations of this Act.

ACT NO. 143. By Mr. Leopold. House Bill No. 108. AN ACT To carry into effect a contract for the counsel fees and expenses of John Dymond, Jr., and Francis C. Zacharie, special associate counsel of the State of Louisiana in the boundary suit of the State of Louisiana vs. the State of Mississippi before the Supreme Court of the United States, said contract having been effected with said council by His Excellency, the Governor and the Attorney General of this State under the authority of a concurrent resolution of the Senate and House of Representatives, approved July 4, 1904, and printed as Act No. 111 of the General Assembly of the State of Louisiana for the year 1904, said contract being evidenced by a notarial act executed by the parties June 16, 1905, before Alvin Edward Hebert, a notary public for the Parish of Orleans; and to appropriate the sum of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) from a fund to be created from the revenues to be collected from the recovered land and water territory by the State of Louisiana, the Parish of St. Bernard, the Oyster Commis. sion of Louisiana, and the Board of Commissioners for the Lake Borgne Basin Levee District; and to provide for the payment of said fund as collected to the extent of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) to the said John Dymond, Jr., and Francis C. Zacharie in the proportion of one-half each.
