AN ACT To amend an Act entitled an Act to create a special levee district within certain limits prescribed in this Act, approved April 1, 1876, and to change the name of the corporation created by that Act; to more fully define, extend and limit the powers and purposes of said corporation; fo extend and more fully describe the boundaries of said levee district; to empower said corporation to levy contributions in aid of said levee, and, under certain contingencies, to require under penalty the performance of labor by certain persons on said levee; to enforce the collection of such contributions; to confirm the provisions of said Act, and for other purposes.

AN ACT Authorizing the Governor to appoint additional police juries in country parishes; directing police juries to redistrict their respective parishes into police jury wards, and these wards into one or more justice of the peace and election wards, and fixing the number of members, the time and manner of their election, the mode of filling vacancies in the police jury, and vacancies which may hereafter occur; fixing the compensation of police jurors; providing forfeitures for their neglect of duty, and the mode of enforcing the same; repealing act No. 97, approved April twenty-seven, 1871, entitled "An act reorganizing the police juries of the State, prescribing the number thereof, and the mode of election, and fixing their duties and compensation."

No. 58. AN ACT To repeal an act entitled “An act to regulate the conduct and maintain the freedom and purity of elections; to prescribe the mode of making returns thereof; to provide for the election of returning officers  and define their powers and duties; to prescribe the mode of entering on the rolls of the Senate and House of Representatives, and to enforce article 103 of the constitution,” being act No. 98, approved November 30, 1872. To provide the time and manner of holding elections and making returns thereof; to define the powers and duties; to provide for the appointment of commissioners and other officers of election; to provide for the maintenance of the freedom and purity of elections, and for the punishment of officers and other persons who may violate the election laws by making false returns, or altering returns, or by refusing, or neglecting, or failing to perform their duties; to punish persons for false, fraudulent or illegal voting, and to punish violence or intimidation. To provide the manner of entering on the rolls of the House of Representatives, and to enforce article 103 of the constitution, and generally to secure and, provide for a free, fair and peaceable election throughout the State, and to repeal conflicting laws.

No. 90. AN ACT To authorize the Administrator of Finance for the city of New Orleans to institute suits for licenses and taxes on capital and personal property in the justices' courts of said city when he may deem fit so to do and when the amount involved does not exceed one hundred dollars. To fix and limit the fees and costs in such cases, to require the constables of said courts to pay over the amount of taxes and licenses thus collected, and to provide penalties for failure so to do, and to repeal all laws or parts of laws in conflict therewith.

No. 96. AN ACT Regulating the mode of assessing and collecting taxes throughout the State; providing for the correction of over and under assessments; providing for the collecting of State and Parish taxes, and the appointment of tax collectors; for the recording of their bonds, and the duties of Parish Recorders in that respect, and the removal of Parish Recorders for violation of the provisions of this Act; limiting the power of taxation of all parishes and municipalities throughout the State; giving relief to taxpayers, and granting rights of subrogation, and appointing a board to examine outstanding claims, and and penalties on certain unpaid taxes, and limiting the liens, privileges, and right of pledge for licenses, taxes, and assessments, and appointment of Assessor in all the parishes, and for the taking of the census of the youths between the ages of six and twenty-one in all the parishes of the State, and to regulate the duties of Parish Treasurer, and to fix penalties for violation of provisions of this Act, and to provide for the examination of the books, vouchers, records, and accounts of the Auditor and Treasurer.

AN ACT To create Recorders’ Courts in the city of New Orleans, and to provide for the appointment and election of Recorders, to define their jurisdiction, qualification, and powers, and to repeal an Act entitled “An Act establishing four municipal courts in the city of New Orleans, and defining the jurisdiction and officers thereof, and repealing all laws establishing Recorders' Courts, and providing for the transfer of the records from the Recorders’ Courts to said municipal courts, and for other purposes," approved May seventeen, eighteen hundred and seventy-three; to abolish the Fifth Municipal Court for the Seventh District of New Orleans, and to provide for the transfer of the books and records of said court; and to fix the compensation to be paid the judge and constable of the Seventh Justice Court by the city of New Orleans in lieu of costs, fees, and expenses in criminal cases cognizable by said court, and to repeal all laws and parts (of laws] in conflict with this Act.
